Summer night out at an open theatre!
Do you find this face familiar? The first time I saw this picture I mistook him for Adrien Brody. For some reason, I am insanely drawn by these hook noses, I find them very attractive in people. They add some character and mystery I guess…Anyway, it’s not him.
He is a music composer, who won one Academy Award, two BAFTA awards, one Golden Globe and two Grammies. Alexandre Desplat, in his first show in Greece – his mother is Greek – in Herodion Theatre. A magical night.
Even if you have never heard of his name, I’ m sure you have seen most of the films he wrote music for. The Grand Budapest Hotel, The Queen, The King’s Speech, The Ides of March, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Harry Potter, The Imitation Game…and the list goes on.
When ancient history meets modern creativity. Herodion Theatre was built in 161 AD. Since then, countless idols of music, dance and theatre performed on that stage. Maria Callas, Frank Sinatra, Luciano Pavarotti, Sting Elton John, Jose Carreras, Diana Ross, Bolshoi Ballets…
It was one of the most magical experiences under the Athenian blue sky…Very intense vibes, incurably romantic…Could be the ultimate date trap!
Which is your most memorable night at an open air venue? Any suggestions?
